CLEAR ALIGNER System - Overlay Braces

  1. What is CLEAR ALIGNER
  2. For whom
  3. Advantages of the system
  4. Duration of treatment

Clear Aligner is a modern system of correction of malocclusion using individually matched covers (rails) made of transparent polymer. In traditional braces, wires and braces exert appropriate forces on the teeth, which causes their position to change. In Clear Aligner overlays, these forces are exerted by differently thick plates in three sizes: soft - 0.5 mm, medium - 0.625 mm and hard - 0.75 mm.
Their operation is supported by flexible lifts and Power Grips specially designed for this purpose  and glued to the teeth.

  • Consultation with an orthodontist – during the first visit, the orthodontist assesses whether the defect can be qualified for Clear Aligner treatment. If so, the physician takes cephalometric and pantomographic images of the patient and collects working impressions, on the basis of which the technician in the laboratory will perform a set-up together with accurate measurements of the displacement of individual teeth. The photos, models and set-up taken will help the physician to prepare an individual treatment plan.

  • Treatment plan – during this visit, the orthodontist presents the patient with a detailed treatment plan with Clear Aligner overlays, which includes: - treatment time - cost of treatment - information whether additional elements such as extracts, buttons, etc. appear during treatment. After accepting the treatment plan, the treatment is carried out within 3-4 days first sets of Clear Aligner overlays in the laboratory.

  • Treatment – the patient receives the first set of three thicknesses (soft, medium and hard) for each of the dental arches. Each overlay should be worn for 1 week strictly as recommended by your physician. After 3 weeks, the doctor takes further working impressions and another set of overlays is performed. This procedure is repeated until the end of the active treatment period.

  • Retention period, i.e. stabilising teeth in a new position – this period usually lasts twice as long as the duration of active treatment. When stabilising teeth in a new position, the patient wears a retention apparatus recommended by the orthodontist.

The overlays are intended for anyone who cannot imagine wearing a permanent orthodontic appliance. Clear Aligner is also ideal for people allergic to nickel and composite glue, which is used when installing orthodontic brackets. A Clear Aligner device can be used in the presence of diastema and severe dental crowding. Orthodontists also appreciate these overlays in eliminating open, deep and cross bites. The invisible orthodontic appliance is also effective in the treatment of recurrent occlusion after traditional orthodontic treatment. The system is intended for persons over 16 years of age.

CLEAR ALIGNER system – advantages:

  • the treatment is painless, non-invasive and very well tolerated by patients;

  • the system ensures the highest degree of aesthetics - the overlays are invisible;

  • easy maintenance of a high degree of oral hygiene during treatment;

  • the surfaces of Clear Aligner overlays are smooth, ideally suited to both the teeth and alveolar mucosa, thanks to which they ensure high comfort of use;

  • in many cases, treatment of malocclusion using overlays is cheaper than treatment with permanent orthodontic appliances;

  • the effectiveness of treatment depends primarily on the regular use of overlays, and on the experience of the attending physician and the qualifications of the orthodontic laboratory performing these overlays.

The duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the case and is usually comparable with the time required during treatment with traditional apparatus. The orthodontist will provide more detailed information during the consultation.

FREQUENCY OF VISITS: 3-4 weeks, the visit time is much shorter than in the case of follow-up with traditional braces.
