 SCHWARZ PLATE

It consists of a colourful acrylic plate, with additional wire elements, made of special spring wire with a diameter of 0.6-0.9 mm. The wire fragment overlapping the incisors and fangs is the so-called labial arch. These braces are classified as active. This means that the formation of the dental arch occurs as a result of forces released by the apparatus itself. The two components of the acrylic plate are expanded between the screw. Sometimes a Schwarz plate with an asymmetrical design or with several screws is used. The whole stays on the teeth thanks to clamps.

Hygiene: the apparatus removed from the mouth should be washed under running water and with toothpaste and a brush. It should be dried gently and store in an airy box (usually supplied with the braces).

FOR WHOM

Schwarz plate is most often used to treat children.

ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM

SCHWARZ PLATE – advantages:

  • it can be removed in certain situations (e.g. during sports training);
  • does not hinder oral hygiene (it can be removed brushing your teeth or while eating);
  • it is relatively affordable;
  • damaged braces can be quickly repaired.

DURATION OF TREATMENT

Contrary to popular belief, it is not enough to wear it only at night. The orthodontist will determine the exact time required from the treatment plan's point of view and decide the plate adjustment.

FREQUENCE OF VISITS: 6 - 7 weeks.
